¡Viva viernes!     (Long live Friday! In other words, TGIF!)

La fecha es el nueve (9) de diciembre del año dos mil veintidós. (The date is December 9, 2022.)

Canto a mi patria (I Sing to My Homeland) is a chanchona song by Los Hermanos Lovo (The Lovo Brothers). Los Hermanos Lovo are from Morazán in eastern El Salvador, where chanchona music originates.

Los Hermanos Lovo explain their roots at the outset of the song: “Morazán es la tierra en que nací” (Morazán is the land where I was born).  They go on to tell how other Salvadorans feel about their heritage: “Tu paisano dondequiera que tú estés, orgulloso está de ser de El Salvador” (Your countryman wherever you may be is proud to be from El Salvador).  They further express their patriotic affection: “Yo le canto con amor a mi país” (I sing to you with love for my country).
