¡Viva viernes! (Long live Friday! In other words, TGIF!)
La fecha es el veintiuno (21) de enero del año dos mil veintidós. (The date is January 21, 2022.)
Many singers have at least one song about their hometown or country. Salvadoran salsa singer Bobby Rivas is one such singer. In Soy guanaco salvadoreño we are serenaded about the natural and cultural beauty of El Salvador.
Guanaco and salvadoreño both mean “Salvadoran,” but guanaco is a colloquial term used by Salvadorans. Bobby Rivas sings to mi gente (“my people”) about the great music in la tierra del carbonero (“the land of the coal merchant”).
Bobby Rivas extends an enticing invitation to El Salvador as he sings about people gozando (“enjoying themselves”) dancing and the paraíso terrenal (“earthly paradise”).
¡Bailemos y cantemos! (Let’s dance and sing!) Go to this link for la letra (the lyrics) then meet me on the dance floor.
¡Que tengas un viernes vibrante! (May you have a lively Friday!)
