¡Viva viernes! (Long live Friday! In other words, TGIF!)
La fecha es el veintiuno (21) de agosto del año dos mil veintiséis. (The date is August 21, 2026.)
Hoy Decidí (Today I Decided) is an Afroflamenco song by my favorite Equatoguinean singer Nélida Karr. I love the song’s inspiration to embrace life and appreciate all of our blessings.
“He decidido hablar y no callarme” (I have decided to speak and not remain silent),
“Decidido no olvidar mi comienzo, mis raíces” (Decided not to forget my beginning, my roots).
“He decidido realizar mis sueños de infancia” (I have decided to realize my childhood dreams).
“Hoy recuerdo las sonrisas y mi inocente mirada” (I remember the smiles and my innocent gaze).
“He decidido dar sin esperar nada a cambio” (I have decided to give without expecting anything in return).
“He decidido apreciar el aire que respiro” (I have decided to appreciate the air that I breathe).
“He decidido amar sin esperar amor a cambio” (I have decided to love without expecting love in return).
“Hoy he decidido dar las gracias por la vida que yo tengo” (I have decided to give thanks for the life that I have).
“He decidido hablar y expresarme sin miedo… solo vivir” (I have decided to speak and express myself without fear… to just live).
“Hoy decidí vivir y amar” (Today, I decided to live and love).
“Hoy decidí soñar, creer” (Today, I decided to dream, to believe).
“He decidido vivir sin rencores” (I have decided to live without resentment),
“Decidido no desperdiciar ni un solo instante” (Decided not to waste a single moment).
“He decidido no dejar que el miedo me atenace” (I have decided not to let fear grip me),
“Sin miedo a lo que digan” (Without fear of what they may say).
“He decidido apreciar y sonreírle a la vida” (I have decided to appreciate and smile at life).
“He decidido ser feliz sin sentirme culpable” (I have decided to be happy without feeling guilty).
¡Cantemos! (Let’s sing!)
¡Que tengas un viernes vívido! (May you have a vivid Friday!)
