Esa tristeza is a jazzy Uruguayan classic by El Kinto from 1977. The title means “that sadness.” The song slowly reveals how the root of the tristeza is un pasado (a past) of recuerdos malos (bad memories). The melancholy theme is highlighted with the circular lines “piensas, vagas y piensas,” meaning “you think, you roam, and you think.”
