¡Viva viernes!       (Long live Friday! In other words, TGIF!)

La fecha es el cinco (5) de agosto del año dos mil veintidós. (The date is August 5, 2022.)

This week we feature a classic flamenco song interpreted by Estrella Morente, Calle del Aire (Street of the Air).

The song begins with the refain: “Esta es la calle del aire (this is the street of the air) la calle del remolino (the street of the whirlwind) donde se remolinea tu cariño con el mío (where your affection whirls with mine).” Another key line that is repeated in the song is: “Dame la mano” (Give me your hand). As in English, this phrase refers to giving one’s hand to someone in marriage.
