Un lorito de Verapaz (The Little Parrot from Verapaz) is a Guatemalan folk song that tells the love story of two parrots.

“Un lorito de Verapaz un buen día se enamoró de una linda cotorrita y la pobre se desmayó” (A little parrot from Verapaz one good day fell in love with a little parrot and the poor thing fainted).

“‘Ay cotorrita de mi alma,’ le decía el lorito” (“Oh, little parrot of my soul,” the little parrot told her),

“‘Quiéreme un poquito, que me muero de amor’” (Love me a little bit, for I’m dying from love).

“‘Delgadito me pongo si tu amor no me das’” (I will be very skinny if you don’t give me your love),

“‘Si te vas con otro, ya verás… ya verás…’” (If you go with another, you will see… you will see…).
