¡Hoy es martes meditativo!     (Today is meditative Tuesday!)

La fecha es el trece (13) de junio del año dos mil veintitrés. (The date is June 13, 2023.)

El dicho de la semana es:

A su tiempo maduran las brevas.

(The saying of the week is:     Figs ripen in due time.)

I desperately need to take to heart the words of this Panamanian proverb. It urges us not to hurry but to wait patiently for the right time to act or receive something. If you look up the word “fig,” you will find both higo and breva. Both fruit come from the same tree but at different times of the year. Brevas are larger and less sweet than higos. Similar to grapes, brevas don’t ripen once they’re picked. So, if you pick them before they ripen, you can’t enjoy them. For some things in life, showing patience makes you feel it was well worth the wait.

Practice saying this proverb when you feel anxious.

¡Que tengas un martes madurado!   (May you have a matured Tuesday!)
