¡Hoy es domingo dividido! (Today is divided Sunday!)
La fecha es el diecinueve (19) de marzo del año dos mil veintitrés. (The date is March 19, 2023.)
La moneda de la semana es: el peso argentino. (The currency of the week is: the Argentine peso.)
The current exchange rate is about 203.30 ARS (pesos argentinos) to one US dollar. (For up-to-date exchange rates, visit xe.com.)
When ordering food, a simple phrase that can be used is:
Quiero … por favor. (I want … please.)
Practice using this phrase with Argentine menu items that we’ve learned about:
- una empanada (Quiero una empanada, por favor.)
- una milanesa
- dulce de leche
- una medialuna
- una chocotorta
It’s time for you to practice numbers with menu items. If you’re struggling with numbers, hold tight just a little longer. Volume 2 of You Can Speak Spanish! will guide you through using numbers in Spanish. I will provide links to a real menu to help you answer the following question for our featured menu items:
¿Cuánto cuesta…? (How much is…?)
- una empanada Una empanada cuesta … pesos. (An empanada costs … pesos.)
- una milanesa
- dulce de leche
- una medialuna
- una chocotorta
For reminders about using “un” or “una,” refer to pages 44-48 in You Can Speak Spanish! – Volume 1.
¡Que tengas un domingo deliberado! (May you have a deliberate Sunday!)
